Mary is a Florida native, graduate of The University of Florida, Florida Licensed Interior Designer and one of the founding Partners of EDGE Architecture. She never questioned what her career would be. Mary always knew she was going to be involved with Interior Architecture and Interior Design. It was in her blood. As a child, she would dissect 3-dimensional space in her mind and reconstruct it.
Mary’s formative years as a child were spent in Tallahassee. Her dad was best friends with the FSU coach, so during football season, weekends were spent going to the Florida State Seminoles football games. They were some of the best football games she remembers. Later, she graduated from The University of Florida, where her grandfather had been the cartoonist many years before. You should ask her about the UF yearbooks and the correlation with FSU.
Her career has spanned more than thirty-five years in the Tampa Bay/St. Petersburg Area where she worked for local Architecture and Interior Design Firms. Among her many projects as an Interior Designer, she was project manager of GTE Corporation, Walter Energy and Twinlab to name a few. Mary is extremely detail-oriented and has exceptional organizational skills. About design, she says, “One cannot design a great space without fully understanding a company’s business model and vision.” So, Programming (gathering information about a company, how they work, what their adjacencies are, what is important to them as a company, etc.) and understanding it is one of the most important things in being able to design a space correctly and to meet or exceed the client’s expectations.
Mary takes a lead role in the management of the firm. In addition, she oversees Interior Design projects and is the leader in Quality Control, ensuring that all projects and services by EDGE Architecture are held to the highest of standards.
