Edge Architecture partnered with The Charles and Chase Group, General Contractors, to provide a design/build solution for the construction of a new headquarters for a prominent medical practice management company in Sarasota. The design/build approach provided a streamlined process that met the tight time frame and budget required by the client. Protection of the data that is stored and processed by the Owner and the ability to maintain their operations for their Clients was of paramount importance. To address those requirements, the envelope of the building is designed to exceed the wind and impact resistance requirements of the Florida Building Code. The exterior walls are constructed using an innovative poured in place concrete panel system that not only provides an extremely strong wall system, but also cut three weeks off the construction schedule. An emergency generator system was designed to maintain power for critical systems and processes in the event of power failure due to hurricanes or lightning strikes.

The design of the exterior of the project articulates the three main elements of the client program with different massing and different colors, to provide an inexpensive, yet interesting appearance. The operations area of the interior provides a large open plan area for systems furniture workstations, breakroom/training room with movable partition and account manager’s offices. The management and customer contact area includes the reception area, the offices of the senior management team, conference rooms and a sophisticated server room designed as a showpiece near the entry to the facility.
